Cajun Style Whole Roast Pig – The Mr Pig Cajun Pig Roast Kit is based on the Cajun Cochon-de-Lait or Pig of Milk. The old Cajuns used to toss a rope over a big limb on a tree and hang a pig in front of a fire. Twist that rope a bit and that pig would spin back and forth and cook in front of all. The Roto Box replaces the rope. There is a rotisserie motor built into the box. You just plug it into a standard 110 extension cord outlet and just turn it on. Your pig will start a slow rotational roasting cycle. In some respects it is performance art.

All Weather. Cooking a pig requires commitment. We’ve cooked pigs in all weathers. Once cooked a pig with pallet wood in the rain. Rain or shine, the pig cooks.

Fundraising: A lot of groups participate in cooking events as fundraisers. A Cochon De Lait – Cajun Style Whole Roast Pig is an impressive thing to see and it is so rare as to be of high value. A Fish Fry is a good fundraiser, but think of the response you will get when people have been driving by all day, watching the pig cook as they go about their days…Defiantly a curiosity builder…Not only that, roasting a pig is just a lot of fun. People will see you and want to stop by to know what is going on with that pig…The kit is easily adaptable for chickens as well. We’ll be posting on You Tube under the handle Mr. Pig Cooking Kit and you can see demonstration videos with different foods…There is a 26″ Redfish in the freezer and you can see a big fish roasted. It is raining today, so as soon as the weather clears up, we’ll be cooking more foods.

Cooking a Pig on Concrete or Asphalt: We cooked a pig on a concrete basketball court and on an asphalt parking lot successfully…If you have a surface that is not ok to build a fire, never fear, dirt is here…We loaded up a truck load of dirt and used it to protect where the fire was not supposed to be. Both times, once the fire was out and the dirt hauled off, you could not tell there was a big fire there cooking a pig. Just lay your fire reflector out, put some wood between the steel frame and the ground, then fill your dirt around the inside and outside of the fire reflector. On the front side, be sure to spread some dirt under where the pig will be hanging. This dirt is to catch the grease that is dripping from the pig. On a side note, it is easy to set up a pan to collect some of this pig grease if you like some flavorful cooking grease. Think of the biscuits, gravy, eggs, etc., that can use some good grease to cook with.

1/22/2021 – The Whole Kit vs The Roto Box only. If you are a bit industrious and have the materials around, you can put together the entire kit except for the Roto Box. The way to set up is to get 5 pieces of old tin. Stand them up and attach with bailing wire to a T-Post. Just create a “U” shape with the tin and that makes your fire reflector. If you have an old swing set hanging around, then you have your A-Frame. The wire is simply some 2 X 4 fence wire…You can use either 3′ or 4′ wide wire and it will take two pieces. Once you have that all, then you have a pig roast kit and all you need is the Roto Box. The entire kit is designed for those that don’t have any tin or old swing set hanging around. The Mr. Pig XL Air Roaster Kit has everything for you in one kit. The frames for the backdrop will last a lifetime and probably several lifetimes. The A-Frame is made to last a lifetime as well. This kit is something you can have for your children and even their children’s, children…Either way, you can set up a kit to cook pigs or just about any other food experiments you might want to try. We are glad to have you buy a Roto Box by itself as it will help provide some big fun by itself. 2/2/2021 – Steel vs Pot Metal – When it comes to the A-Frame, you can always find one or maybe a friend has one his kids aren’t using. These will all be pot metal and not very sturdy. Also, not very easy to put together. The Mr. Pig Ultimate A-Frame is all Steel and there are only 4 bolts to hold the leg brackets to the top cross bar and 6 bolts to hold the top cross bar and legs together. The A-Frame is designed to be portable. The pieces are all just under 4′. The legs slip into one another, so you only have 4 legs to hook up. The top center bar is three pieces. the outside pieces slid into the middle piece and meet in the middle. This gives the A-Frame added strength across the top as well. The Mr. Pig Ultimate A-Frame is also taller than most swing sets. It stands over 80″ high. It’s strength and height offer other uses for the big A-Frame. Clean a deer. Hang a porch swing. Attach spot lights at your party for the band. Hang a target (where it is safe)…The difference is in the strength and portability. No other A-Frame moves as easily as the Mr. Pig Ultimate A-Frame.

2/12/21 – When the time comes and the Pandemic is reduced to a level when we can gather again, your Mr. Pig Cajun Pig Roast Kit will be a great cooking kit to bring your friends and family around for some social interaction and fellowship. Your rig will be the center of attention and everyone will want to watch and see how it works. You’ll start with a scraped pig. Once you have it butterflied and sandwiched between the two pieces of wire, you are set to cook. The most fun is having a couple of guys come by early and help cook the pig. Always great fun and when more people come around, all the cooks get to take some credit. We used to get several people together and start cooking a 200#+ pig around 7:00 pm on a Friday night…It was always a great pre-party leading up to the big party on Saturday night. There is always someone sitting with the pig. I’ve sat between 4 and 6 am to make sure the fire stays stoked and the pig continues to cook. That is one type of big party, when you have over 100 people coming. Most people have smaller parties in mind. Lately, we here at Mr. Pig have started cooking smaller pigs in the 35 – 50# range. A smaller pig can be started the morning of your event. We like to start around daylight and make a whole day of fun and fellowship. We’ve recently heard of Man Sheds. The shed in the back yard for men to have a place to be men. The Mr. Pig Cajun Pig Roast Kit is a perfect addition to every Man Shed. Just imagine starting a pig around daylight on a Saturday morning, planning to serve the whole pig around 5 that afternoon. The guys will be men and cook a pig. The women and friends can join them for some tasty food fellowship for dinner. 2/14/21 – Mr. Pig Says: “Happy Valentines Day” When the cooking is done and you find some leftovers, these are some things you can do for your Valentine. We like left over whole roast pig enchiladas. These are really great with a verde sauce as well. While roast pig has its own flavor and that goodness and tenderness is shared with whatever leftover you might consider. Whole roast pig left over omelette…OMG, if you like omelettes as much as we do, Mr. Pig says: “A left over whole roast pig omelette, is a “stick to your ribs” sort of breakfast feast.” Chopped whole roast pig BBQ sandwiches all around…This is no manwich…You put that left over whole roast pig into the blender with some BBQ sauce and – dang – you’ve got some of the best chopped pork sandwich fixins’ on the planet…Mr. Pig says: “Get two napkins if you are making a whole roast pig left over BBQ sandwich…and don’t forget the dill pickle slices.” Now, if you are really adventurous, and we have not attempted this sandwich, so we are saying the left over whole roast pig Ruben Sandwich can be a thing…Mr. Pig can only snort at the possibilities…

2/21/21 – Well, the snow is thawing out after the big snow and ice storms. We’ve finally gotten full pressure water back, but still under a boil water notice for the next couple of days. Our vaccines are being sent out and jabbed into people’s arms…This all means we’ll be back to having friends come by and some will have some big parties. 3/31/21 – Vaccines are rolling out in big numbers now…Mr. Pig has received two doses of the Pfizer vaccine, so bring on some pig roast fun.
